Striking Music Gold on Texas Road Trip !

On a recent trip to Texas we had a chance to visit the usual 'hot-spots' There, we were quickly reminded that often the best music is found in places off the beaten path. Such was the case this past Friday, when we ventured down the highway hoping to catch a band we'd heard about called 'Texas Flood'. Always keep in mind looks can be deceiving, a fancy club with neon lights can look great and have lousy entertainment, while a hole in the wall can be hiding gold! The Broncos Sportsbar looks like an upscale sportsbar anytown USA but inside the music was magic!

'Texas Flood' hit the stage jamming some classic Texas Blues in their tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan. In case you didn't know, Stevie Ray was born in Dallas,Texas... so this band has built in fan base, especially with the talent to back it up. Frontman Tommy Katona not only sings like Stevie, he plays a mean guitar! He is backed up by a solid band of Steve Buckner (Bass),Travis Montoya (Drums) and Sparky Montoya (keyboards). They performed dead on versions of the iconic hits of the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan.

The night went into even higher gear with a tip of the hat to another local tribute band called 'Swan Song' who of course performs a tribute to Led Zeppelin.Tommy and his bandmates rocked out an amazing high energy medley of Zeppelins greatest hits and then capped the night off with a little Jimmy Hendrix. These talented guys pulled off an amazing setlist which wowed the crowd the entire evening. If you are a fan of Texas rock you'll be a fan of  texas Flood. If you have the chance to see them live,  highly recommend you check them out !
